Guided Walk on the Forest

Wednesday 24th April

Enjoy a healthy walk on the Forest from 10.30 for an hour.  The walk will be guided by a volunteer who knows the Forest well and will be able to tell you about the scenery and wildlife.  Please wear suitable shoes and dress for the weather conditions on the day.  The walks are free of charge.

Travelling on the High Weald Belle, so named after the glorious countryside our railway passes through, you will be able to experience a traditional pastime of dining on a moving train hauled by one of our Steam and/or Heritage Diesel locomotives. Saturday Evenings
Dine as they did in the 1960s and climb aboard a steam hauled train for a fine evening dining experience whilst travelling through the High Weald. Board the train, travelling in our restored 1960s carriages in time for a 19:00 departure. Throughout the evening you will enjoy a freshly prepared evening meal served by our uniformed waiting staff.  Return to Tunbridge Wells West will be at around 22:00 when you will have an opportunity for photos with the locomotive!

Early Morning Bird Watching Walks from Forest Centre

A wonderful chance to take an early morning guided walk on the Forest led by one of our Volunteer Rangers, an experienced birdwatcher. The birds should be very active and vocal at this time of day and time of year. This is a chance to hear and see some unusual birds which you are most unlikely to find in your garden and which are hard to find in rural Sussex outside Ashdown Forest.

Walks are aimed at novices and non-birdwatchers.

Transport Film Festival at Spa Valley Railway

11th and 12th May

Join us for an exciting new event in 2019!
Featuring all of our stations and our two train service, we’re bringing you the unique opportunity to see a variety of transport films at Tunbridge Wells West, Groombridge and Eridge.

Travel all day on Steam and Diesel trains of the Spa Valley Railway and enjoy classic and original short transport films being shown at venues at each of the three main stations, including a rare opportunity to visit the unique Vintage Mobile Cinema bus. Films, some on 16mm and 8mm, of ships, planes, cars and trains dating from 1930’s to present day.

Film Shows
Your OPEN All Day Rover Ticket includes entrance to Films being shown at Tunbridge Wells West, Eridge and in the unique Vintage Mobile Cinema (VMC) bus parked at Groombridge.

However, because of very limited capacity in the Cinema bus you may wish to choose to buy your ticket with a RESERVED seat for a TIMED show, otherwise you just take your chance. These timings have been arranged to link with the two train service operating each day so that you should be able to visit the other stations easily.

NOTE: Your Timed VMC ticket is still valid on all trains. If you want to see all the films being shown you need to come on both days!

Tickets with times can be booked on this page, alternatively you can just book a rover ticket for all day travel with no reservation here.

Travelling on the High Weald Belle, so named after the glorious countryside our railway passes through, you will be able to experience a traditional pastime of dining on a moving train hauled by one of our Steam and/or Heritage Diesel locomotives. Our wonderful caterers, the Complete Lunch, will provide you with an enjoyable and unforgettable dining experience as you travel on the beautiful Spa Valley line. Step on board our restored 1960s carriages for the experience of a life time.

If you have any dietary requirements (gluten free, vegetarian etc.) please add this at the time of booking. It is impossible for us to make alternative arrangements on the day.

Saturday Evenings
Dine as they did in the 1960s and climb aboard a steam hauled train for a fine evening dining experience whilst travelling through the High Weald. Arrive at Tunbridge Wells West station from 18:15 for a canapés and drinks reception in our Victorian engine shed. Board the train, travelling in our restored 1960s carriages in time for a 19:00 departure. Throughout the evening you will enjoy a freshly prepared evening meal served by our uniformed waiting staff.  Return to Tunbridge Wells West will be at around 22:00 when you will have an opportunity for photos with the locomotive!

Arrive at Eridge to meet our dining train team to take pre-drinks orders. Board from 12:30, travelling in our restored 1960s carriages in time for a 12:50 departure. Throughout the afternoon you will enjoy a freshly prepared three course Sunday Roast served by our uniformed waiting staff.

Return to Eridge will be at around 15:45 when you will have an opportunity for photos with the locomotive.

DS:UK at Trading Boundaries

21st and 22nd September

DS:UK bring the experience of one of Dire Straits’ most iconic concerts and albums to Trading Boundaries for two nights!

‘Alchemy’ was the first big LIVE album, recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon in July of 1983 during the last two shows of the ‘Love Over Gold’ tour.

The tour included selected hits from their albums to date including Tunnel of Love, Romeo and Juliet and Private Investigations and also featured many other fan favourite songs that didn’t make it onto the Live ‘Alchemy’ Album itself.

The band will also include popular tracks from later years too!
